Months after the blood moon over Avenue A, Quentin Mercer and his coven are trying to rebuild their lives.
The gate is closed. The dead are gone. The city has stopped changing around them.

A blood-red sigil appears across the street from Quentin’s apartment, embedded in brick as though the building itself has begun to bleed. A man dies beneath it. Another victim appears in a photograph taken more than a century ago. And buried inside the image is a name Mildred once tried to erase from history.
Wraith.
Once a Custodian charged with protecting the boundaries between realities, Wraith has spent generations becoming something far darker. He no longer believes the world should be saved.
He believes it should be broken open.
As more sigils appear across New York, Quentin, Nico, Roman, Dante, Mateo, Imani, Noelle, and Zara discover that the marks are not warnings.
They are coordinates.
Subway tunnels, burial grounds, churches, forgotten streets, and buildings that should no longer exist begin forming an occult pattern across the city. Every new point brings another death. Every attempt to interfere activates something worse. People begin remembering lives they never lived. The dead return with the wrong memories. Entire blocks change overnight, while everyone except the coven insists they have always been that way.
Then Wraith’s followers emerge.

They claim the life they were meant to have was stolen from them.

As New York begins splitting into competing versions of itself, Quentin discovers the truth Mildred buried: the city has been built over a containment system older than any of them imagined, and the Blood Sigil was never meant to summon something.
It was meant to decide which reality survives.

And the final line runs through Quentin.
To stop him, the coven will have to choose between the damaged world they know and impossible lives in which everything they lost has been restored.
